I used to have a problem with dropped calls in my house, this definitely fixed it.

Rated 2 out of 5Â by BD27 Took days to get it working; since then it's been pretty good
This thing is a serious pain- granted I do live in a courtyard/pool facing apartment in a concrete and steel hurricane proof building.
I eventually got it working by taking off the GPS cover and attaching the GPS antenna attachment and literally stringing it out over the balcony railing (to initially get the GPS to connect). *Note: the GPS antenna attachment needs to be horizontal. Once I got that connected and all the blue lights finally came on (after days of reconnecting it, restarting it, etc), I started slowly moving the antenna in from outside foot by foot (four or five moves over the course of a day) until eventually I had it inside with all blue lights on! Best feeling ever.
Then over the next few days I moved the unit back until it was in the corner and I now keep the GPS antenna on the ground by the sliding glass door. (Btw, if you can put the unit and/or the antenna higher that is supposed to help).
For the first week or two it would still occasionally lose the GPS signal but would nonetheless continue to work (most of the time). For the past few weeks its been all blue lights 24/7 and working. I did have a dropped call today mid way through a conversation, but I don't know if it was because of the extender. For the most part, it works like a normal tower.
Most people I know come to me with tech issues and this took days and days for me to finally get it working consistently (had to talk to tech support once- surprisingly helpful person).
The only reason I said 'yes' recommend is because, as far as I know, until they decide to make something better that works with Verizon, this is pretty much your only choice. Good luck.

Purchased this extender end of 2010 and went from a maybe 1 bar if you don't move when you got it. But in a rural, wooded, mountain area in Ozark Mountains, live in a metal sided metal roofed house and have never lost signal unless power goes off but then I use a generator till it comes back on, takes a few minutes to get the signal back. With it being 3 years figured it was time to write a review this is a wonderful product. Little on the pricey side but will pay for its self in a few years

Rated 5 out of 5Â by jmcu Went fron 0 to 4 bars / Should be a free part of your service
Easy to set up, works excellent. Was getting no signal in the house and lucky to get 1 bar outside. After the extender I get about 4 -5 bars in the house and about 2 bars outside.
Does not seem to effect the network when on the PC.
I think it is over priced. I should not have to pay to get reception to pay my cell phone bill. It should be a free item from Verizon if your their customer and are already paying a arm and a leg for their service..

Rated 5 out of 5Â by birdluck Watch out for metal window screens
My signal went from one bar with poor sound quality to three or four bars all over the house. It is well worth the money. The GPS will not work if the window has a metal screen on it, so I used the antenna extension to put the antenna next to the glass and outside of the screens which are on the inside in my house. If your screens are outside, you might have remove the screen from that window.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Valara Haven't dropped a call since we got it !
Easy to set up, takes a little while for everything to "sync", but that is no more than 20 minutes. Works great 5 to 3 bars most of the time, prior to getting this it was 0-2 bars. My only complaint is ..... I think Verizon should furnish this if you have a signal that is so unreliable. I almost always dropped a call or was told I was breaking up before we got this. I would think that Verizon should adsorb the cost since it is their signal that is so weak to begin with. I was afraid that we would have an emergency and wouldn't be able to call for help, or have the call garbled or dropped. That said the extender does what it is supposed to do.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Shadygap Does exactly what I want it to!
It was not hard to set up although I only had the quick guide. I had a little problem and it said to refer the manual and there was no full manual, I had to find it online. It probably took about 20-25 minutes till it was completely operational. I went from 1 to 2 bars in the house to 4-5 bars. However I think it is pricey despite it doing what it should. Since I have been a long time customer, I believe it should have cost me about half that price!

Rated 5 out of 5Â by RPG67 From 0 to 3G in twenty mins
We live in rural Mountainous area and love it. It does have its pros and cons though, for years we saw technology advance beyond our comprehension
Cellular coverage here is almost non existent, We actually had a rock approx 100 yards from our house marked where we could sometimes make a phone call or send a text.
Our internet choices were dial up or satellite. dial up internet was at a crawl and satellite was expensive and unreliable. ( you cannot use this Network Extender with satellite internet).
Approximately one year ago we paid to have cable installed on our road.
Overnight we entered the 21st century with Downloads, Uploads, Streaming, wi-fi we had it all. But still did not have one bar of service on our smartphones.
We ordered the Network Extender from Verizon and were amazed at how well it works.
It came Fed Ex in two days and we had it up and running in less than thirty mins.
We now have 4 bars of 3G service in our home and can text, talk and browse the internet using Verizon data plan.
Bottom line If you have no cell service at your home and have DSL or Cable internet this will likely give you 3G service and is well worth the price.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by davehul expensive but does what it says
i wasn't happy about the price of this extender but given the hills around our house I didn't have much choice. My wife was constantly complaining about dropped calls, cutouts, no reception, missed calls, etc. I discovered I was also missing calls when at home. It's been three weeks since installation I haven't heard a peep from her. We have great reception thoughout the house.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by mlwilli does as billed
For whatever reason I have a dead spot in my house where receiving and dropping calls is a first rate problem. The setup was complete in minutes. Now when my phone rings it jumps from 2 bars to 4 throughout the house and it covers my dead spot. I am pleased with the performance so far. Dropped calls are a thing of the past.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by CountryDiva Awesome Reception!
I live in a valley between mountains where I had absolutely zero cell phone reception unless I drove the ten miles into town from my home. I was told there was nothing I could do to get service. I decided to try the Network Extender. The installation went very quickly. It did take a while to find a signal, which I figured it would since I live so far out of a service area. The instructions say it can take up to 15 minutes to find a signal, I gave it close to 45 before it was 100% up and running. Like I said, I had absolutely no cell phone reception before - with the network extender installed, I can be anywhere in my home and receive full bars and 3G speeds - way better than I expected given my location! Definitely worth the signal search wait!

Rated 4 out of 5Â by LiquidFlames Tricky to set up; otherwise fantastic!
I admit I was very skeptical about this product. I called customer care first, though, and the assured me it has a 14 day return policy if it doesnâ¿¿t work out. With nothing to lose, I decided to at least give it a shot.
Before the Network Extender, 80% of the time I had zero bars everywhere in my apartment. I would get one bar for a few seconds every ten minutes or so. Making calls was impossible. Sending text messages was spotty. Sometimes theyâ¿¿d send, sometimes theyâ¿¿d fail. Sending/receiving photos I did with email via Wi-Fi instead of messaging. I even dropped my text messaging plan because I was relying so heavily on Google Voice to text. It sends over Wi-Fi instead of the wireless network. Google Voice, though, doesnâ¿¿t have the ability to send or receive picture messages, the app is sluggish and the UI is primitive. It was a Band-Aid at best.
After setting up the Network Extender I get full signal (-40 to -50dbm) everywhere in my apartment. Making calls is flawless, texting works perfectly, picture messages send without a problem.
I am completely shocked and blow away at how well this product works. I hate that I need it â¿¿ the Verizon network is kind of a let-down in this area â¿¿ but they are mostly redeemed by offering this product and the fact that it works so well.
I do have one word of warning, though. It takes some finagling to get this thing set up just right to work at peak performance. Follow the instructions exactly. Put it close to a window (which may be hard depending on your internet gateway/routerâ¿¿s location) and put it up about 4 to 6 feet off the floor. If it has trouble finding GPS, the cord provided for the GPS antenna is very long. Move the GPS antenna from inside the device and put it right in a window where it has good line of site with the sky. I had to set mine on a window sill and still had to use the GPS antenna wire to hang the GPS receiver right in the middle of the window. Once I figured out the perfect spot for it, though, it is flawless!

Rated 4 out of 5Â by WonderingindaChi Good but not great...
Like eveyone else I bought it because no service at my new home. Works like it says. Why should I pay for something that Verizon should supply for free to keep my business? Maybe I shouuld go with a carrier that works at my home and return this.. Hmn...

Rated 2 out of 5Â by Avohill Linked to DSL service so beware
Great concept and probably marginally helpful but there are two large drawbacks. First, it links up with your DSL in order to serve you well. As we all know, all DSL services have enormous swings in signal throughout the day, ergo, your Verizon Network Extender advantages also swing wildly through the day. Its maddening to have the network extender operating correctly, your phone showing 4 bars, and call quality is so bad you cant use your phone. Such things occur regularly if you dont have perfect DSL. Also, this device takes literally hours to reboot if there a power outage. One little blip in the lights and whamo, youre down for multiple hours. Its like bank loans, you only get one when you dont need one.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Satisfied12 Big improvement in signal strength
Our cellular signal was very weak in rural NH with calls dropped frequently. The extender is a great solution. We get four bars near the antenna and two bars at the far end of the house (50 feet). We are able to pick up the GPS signal near an interior wall on the north side of the house; no need to remotely mount the GPS antenna at a south-facing window. Our Blackberry picks up the signal from the extender from anywhere in the house as soon as it's turned on, but our older Samsung Knack usually has to be right next to the extender to make the connection after which we can maintain a connection while moving throughout the house. Simple online setup to limit use to specified phone numbers.
