Lifeline Program

Discounted wireless phone service for qualified low-income customers.

What is Lifeline?
Lifeline is a federal assistance program that offers wireless telephone discounts to qualified low-income customers, including residents of Tribal Lands.

Lifeline provides a monthly discount to qualified individuals. Eligibility requirements and discounts vary by state.

As part of the Lifeline program, Link Up is available to qualified consumers who live on Tribal lands. It assists qualified Tribal customers by paying a customer's one-time activation fee. Restrictions apply.

How much can I save?
If you qualify for this program, Lifeline can save you at least $9.25 a month on your wireless bill depending on the state where you live. See the "View Brochure and Coverage" section below for details by state. If you live on federally-recognized Tribal lands, you may qualify for additional discounts.

How do I qualify?
Eligibility requirements vary from state to state. Only one Lifeline account per household is allowed.

Check your state's eligibility

Lifeline applicants must provide two proofs of ID and certify under penalty of perjury that they participate in an eligible program.

Are there any restrictions?
Yes, Lifeline benefits are limited to a single line of service. You are not eligible to receive multiple Lifeline discounts and must choose to apply your Lifeline discount to either one landline or one wireless number, but you cannot have the discount on both. Other service providers may use terms other than "Lifeline" to describe the Lifeline assistance program.

You will be required to certify under penalty of perjury that you will comply with this requirement. A Lifeline customer's residential address must be in an area where Verizon Wireless offers the Lifeline service. Lifeline assistance may not be applied retroactively.

The Tribal Link Up assistance may only be applied once to initiate service (for a single landline or wireless telephone line) at the same address. Link Up assistance can not be applied to customer facilities or equipment, including the cost of your phone. Link Up assistance may not be applied retroactively.
