Verizon Wireless recently presented a $10,000 HopeLine grant to the Advocacy Center of Tompkins County to help fund the renovation of the organization’s backyard into a child- and family-friendly playground and garden.

Survivors and their children living at the organization’s confidential domestic violence safe house will soon be able to enjoy new play equipment and culinary gardens to make their time in the safe house a more enjoyable experience.  In 2013, more than 60 individuals found safety and support through the safe house program.

The grant is part of Verizon Wireless’ ongoing efforts to support the victims and families of domestic violence in our communities and the organizations that serve them. Since 2001, Verizon Wireless has donated more than $21 million in cash grants to our partner agencies.
