DOTHAN, AL — Verizon Wireless today announced it is bringing the nation’s largest 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network to Dothan and Enterprise, Ala., on March 15. With the 4G LTE network, customers in Dothan and Enterprise will be able to use their wireless devices to access the Internet faster; listen to music or watch video on their phones; use thousands of apps; and stay in touch with family and friends, with speeds up to 10 times faster than before.

In addition to Dothan and Enterprise, the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network will also be available at launch in Columbia, Cottonwood, Daleville, Elba, Geneva, Hartford, Headland, New Brockton, Ozark, Samson and Slocomb.

“We’re excited to continue to expand our 4G LTE network across Alabama and to help residents, businesses and local government connect faster and more fully with each other and with those outside the area,” said Jonathan LeCompte, president of Verizon Wireless’ Georgia/Alabama Region. “Our commitment to 4G LTE is bringing our customers a level of speed and connectivity that is revolutionizing the way we communicate.”

Since its launch on Dec. 5, 2010, Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network has won numerous technology and consumer choice awards, including being named the nation’s “Fastest 4G Network Yet” by Popular Science’s 2011 Best of What’s New Awards and ranking No. 1 on PC World’s 100 Best Products of 2011. As of Feb. 16, Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network is available in 196 markets across the country and supports a wide variety of 4G LTE devices, including the DROID 4 by Motorola and the DROID RAZR™ MAXX™ by Motorola.

In real-world, fully loaded network environments, Verizon Wireless 4G LTE customers should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.
