When Erin L. Hohnbaum decided to make the leap and open a fashion boutique in Little Rock, Arkansas, she looked to technology to help build her business.

“Being a small-business owner, you have a million and one things to worry about,” Hohnbaum said, owner of E. Leigh’s Boutique.

Already the owner of an online business, Hohnbaum turned to the web for assistance in opening her storefront location. During her search, she found Small Business Advisor, a free resource to help entrepreneurs in any industry find applications to support their business needs.

“It really helped me to tailor and find great applications that I didn’t know existed,” she said.

As part of the transition from online store to a storefront location in one of Arkansas’ most eclectic neighborhoods, Hohnbaum used Small Business Advisor to find apps such as an ADT app to remotely monitor the store’s security cameras and another app to manage employee time cards.

During her online search, she also discovered the Intuit GoPayment Card Reader and Square Card Reader payment accessory and app. The apps allowed Hohnbaum to accept credit card payments on her Verizon-powered 4G LTE tablet during the store’s grand opening.

Using the mobility of the system, Erin walked around to visit with customers, assist when needed and ring up their purchases of high-quality apparel, handbags and accessories during the event.

Erin said the time spent researching online and utilizing mobile technology provided her with tools that she uses daily. “If you own a small business, Small Business Advisor can help. It’s definitely worth checking out.”
