UPDATE – Tuesday, February 12: Verizon Wireless’ Same Day Delivery service is now available in 12 more cities: Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, San Diego, Seattle and Washington, D.C.
Today, Verizon Wireless announced that it is adding 12 additional markets to its Same Day Delivery service, providing yet another delivery option for customers eager to receive their new smartphone, tablet or connected device right away. Now customers in Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, San Diego, Seattle and Washington, D.C., can opt for Same Day Delivery.
In July 2013, Verizon Wireless became the first wireless provider to offer this service with a pilot program in Philadelphia. The pilot then expanded to include New York City, Dallas, Pittsburgh and San Francisco in October.
“We want customers to have multiple options to help them get the most from their wireless experience,” said Melanie VanderValk, vice president, national distribution, Verizon Wireless.
The Same Day Delivery service provides an option for customers who order devices – with or without accessories – on the Verizon Wireless website to get their items the day the order is placed. The initiative allows Verizon Wireless to take advantage of local inventory and proximity to enable shipments from company-operated communication stores.
New and existing customers may choose Same Day Delivery when ordering online by 10 a.m. local time Monday through Friday with delivery guaranteed by 7 p.m. local time. The delivery fee is $19.99 compared with the priority overnight delivery fee of $14.99. Sunday through Thursday, customers placing their orders after the normal shipping cutoff times (between 4 p.m. and 12 a.m. local time) will still have the ability to select and receive their orders the next business day.
Same Day Delivery is one of several options for customers who have purchased a device online ranging from standard to overnight delivery to in-store pickup.
