PHILADELPHIA, PA — RadioShack and Bell Atlantic Mobile have agreed to provide cellular service to RadioShack customers in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Already one of the largest providers of wireless service in the Delaware Valley, Bell Atlantic Mobile now has more than 425 outlets in the area where customers can purchase its products and services.

The agreement increases RadiosShack's current business relationship with Bell Atlantic Mobile by nearly 30% in the Northeast. To date, Bell Atlantic Mobile cellular service has been available in 518 Radio Shack stores, primarily in New England and the New York metropolitan area. The Philadelphia area adds 174 stores, bringing the total number of Radio Shack stores offering Bell Atlantic Mobile service to 692 nationally.

"The move to increase our relationship with Bell Atlantic Mobile in the Philadelphia area enhances a strong business alliance that has been extremely successful in other parts of the Northeast," said David Edmondson, executive vice president and chief operating officer of RadioShack. "This association with a leading cellular service provider helps RadioShack maintain its leadership position in the wireless retail business."

"Bell Atlantic Mobile is excited about expanding its distribution relationship with RadioShack, especially in light of increased consumer demand for wireless phones," said John Stratton, president, Bell Atlantic Mobile's Philadelphia region.

"RadioShack's convenient retail presence and knowledgeable sales staff will provide our customers with another high-quality source for the purchase of traditional cellular and new digital wireless services."

RadioShack is the largest retailer of wireless telephones with nearly 7,000 stores and participating dealers nationwide. RadioShack stores in the Philadelphia, Southern New Jersey and Delaware area will offer Bell Atlantic Mobile's popular Digital Choice SingleRate (sm), bundled, flat-rate national and regional price plans with no roaming charges or long distance charges on calls to anywhere in the U.S.

A division of Tandy Corporation (NYSE:TAN), RadioShack is America's favorite store for electronic parts and accessories, telecommunications products and services, home security products and services, direct to home satellite systems and repair service for most major brands of consumer electronics.

Bell Atlantic Mobile owns and operates the largest wireless network in the East, covering 116,000 square miles, and the largest chain of retail outlets devoted exclusively to wireless voice, data and paging. Based in Bedminster, NJ, Bell Atlantic Mobile has 5.9 million customers and 7,500 employees from Maine to Georgia and, through a separate subsidiary, in the Southwest. Through its "Wireless at Work" community service program, the company uses its technology to help individuals and communities improve security and emergency communications. Bell Atlantic Mobile's parent is one of the world's largest wireless communications companies, with domestic operations in 25 states and international investments in Mexico, Europe and the Pacific Rim.
