ATHENS, Greece — Stet Hellas continues to roll out the welcome mat to travelers who visit Greece and choose the Telestet network for mobile phone service.

With summer tourism in full swing, Telestet is sending every mobile phone user who roams on its network a welcome message that includes the helpful 4-digit number ("1261") for Telestet Directory Assistance. The text message lets visitors know they are connected to the Telestet network as well as how to get help finding phone numbers and other information while traveling in Greece.

Telestet Directory Assistance operates around-the-clock, 365 days a year, with staff operators fluent in a number of languages, including Greek, Italian, Spanish, and English. Telestet's operators also offer "yellow pages" service that callers can use to find restaurants, shopping, and other services anywhere in Greece based only on a description of what they are looking for.

"Roaming" is the ability to make or receive mobile phone calls outside your home network. Stet Hellas has reciprocal roaming agreements with 125 partner companies based in 76 countries around the world. Roaming customers normally pay about 150 Greek drachmas, or roughly 50 cents US, for a Directory Assistance call.

Last month, Stet Hellas launched Smart Tourist Guide, the service that automatically pinpoints customers and delivers a guided tour of the nearest historic and cultural sites around the country. It is available exclusively to Telestet network users, including "roamers" and visitors who purchase Telestet's pre-paid mobile phone service, B Free by Telestet.

Stet Hellas Telecommunications S.A. is at the forefront of the mobile communications industry in Europe. To its growing base of more than 928,000 customers in Greece, the company's Telestet brand stands for innovative services and the latest in communications technology. The company's shareholders include Stet Mobile Holdings NV, Bell Atlantic and the Interamerican Group, and its stock is publicly traded on the NASDAQ (STHLY) and Amsterdam (STHLS) exchanges.
