WOBURN, MA — Verizon Wireless, known for its corporate leadership in the fight to end domestic violence, today announced a donation program through its 49 Communications Stores that will directly benefit victims and their families. The donation program begins a two-month partnership with S.R. Weiner and Associates, Inc. and its regional malls and includes the "Cycle to break the Cycle of Domestic Violence" bike-a-thon sponsored by S.R. Weiner in September.

Any customer visiting a New England-based Verizon Wireless Communications Store in August and September can pick up a pledge card and make a $1 or $5 donation. One hundred percent of the contribution will go directly to area shelters that provide support to victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse.

"This is another way to encourage members of the community and our entire Verizon Wireless family, our employees and customers, to rally around this social dilemma," said Bob Stott, New England regional president of Verizon Wireless. "We will continue to put our products, services and resources to work to benefit victims and survivors of domestic violence."

Verizon Wireless, formerly Bell Atlantic Mobile, has donated thousands of wireless phones, programmed to dial 9-1-1, and HopeLine(, a confidential wireless voicemail system, to State coalitions and shelters throughout New England in the past few years.

The in-store donation program will benefit domestic violence agencies throughout New England. More information on the bike-a-thon can be found at www.cycle-event.com.
