WHEATLAND, WY — In its continuing effort to provide the best wireless service for local residents, Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest wireless provider, today announced that it has upgraded its analog network in the greater Wheatland area. The improvements expand Verizon Wireless' coverage and enhance call quality for customers using their wireless phones while traveling on Interstate 25 north to mile marker 83, south on I-25 between mile markers 73 and 83 as far east as Hill Drive and as far west as Ayers.

"The ultimate factor in the quality of wireless service - and the customer's satisfaction - is the network that carries the call, and the recent enhancement to our Wyoming network is another example of Verizon Wireless' commitment to delivering superior network quality in all of our markets," said Marni Walden, regional president for Verizon Wireless. "We invested more than $4 million in the Wyoming wireless network last year, and we are preparing to bring digital service to Wyoming communities later this year."

Verizon Wireless' local network has experienced significant growth in call volume over the last several months. The enhanced network is designed to meet the current needs of local wireless users and enabled increased use. Upgrading Verizon Wireless' analog network in rural communities is part of the company's planned $4 billion investment in 2001 to improve its extensive, nationwide wireless network.
