PORTLAND, OR — The entire family is welcome to join Mom for the Mother's Day Walk of Hope benefiting Raphael House, a Portland program providing services to women and children who are victims of domestic violence. Registration forms for the Saturday, May 12 event are available at any Verizon Wireless Communications Store in the Portland area.

As one of the presenting sponsors of the Walk, Verizon Wireless is making it easy for the family to keep in touch with a special May promotion of 2000 free weekend air time minutes when they renew or sign up for selected national, regional or local digital rate plans.

"Verizon Wireless has a long history of supporting domestic violence initiatives and is pleased to support this fundraising effort," said Kelley DeLaney, regional president for Verizon Wireless in the Pacific Northwest. "Raphael House is a worthwhile organization that provides much needed support to victims, but also important prevention and education tools to others." All proceeds from the Mother's Day Walk of Hope go directly to the Raphael House to provide shelter, counseling and caring for abused women and children in the Portland metro area.
