LARAMIE, WY — After investing more than $4 million in its Wyoming network, the nation's largest wireless provider, Verizon Wireless today announced that it has launched digital service in Laramie. The availability of digital service offers consumers a long list of benefits, including, superior voice quality, longer battery life and enhanced privacy. The new digital coverage in Laramie is part of the company's $4 billion investment to improve and extend the reach of its nationwide wireless network.

"The expansion of digital service to Laramie is an example of Verizon Wireless' commitment to continually develop and enhance its network," said Marni Walden, regional president for Verizon Wireless in the Mountain Region. "Digital service will provide customers with numerous benefits, including greater call clarity and security, longer battery life and talk time, and the ability to use advanced wireless services such as Internet access and text messaging."

Previously, Verizon Wireless offered only analog service in the area. With the introduction of digital service to the area, analog customers will continue to enjoy their existing coverage, and have the option to upgrade to a digital phone to enjoy the features and benefits of digital service, such as clearer calls with less background noise and longer battery life.

Bringing digital service to Laramie also allows consumers to take advantage of Verizon Wireless' national SingleRateSM plans. The plans offer no roaming or long distance charges nationwide, an ideal calling plan for travelers as we move into the busy summer travel season. And now, when customers sign up for a SingleRateSM plan they receive 2,000 free weekend air time minutes per month for as long as they remain on the rate plan selected at activation (new annual agreement required).

"Wyoming customers have never had this much freedom and flexibility with their wireless service," Walden said. "For many, it will change the way they communicate and stay in touch."

The new digital coverage area in Laramie extends to one mile north of Third and Curtis, east on Interstate 80 to mile marker 318, south on Highway 287 to mile marker 408 and west on Interstate 80 to mile marker 305.
