BEDMINSTER, NJ — New CDMA Wireless Phone is the Ultimate Entertainment Device with an FM Radio, the Web and Wireless Phone in One

Verizon Wireless and Motorola (NYSE: MOT) have joined forces to introduce the latest in design and convergence technology with the national launch of a new wireless phone that, with an optional headset, does double duty as an FM radio. The Motorola V120c, available exclusively at Verizon Wireless' Communications Stores and at Verizon Wireless' stores-within-a-store at Radio Shack, is also Mobile Web™ and Mobile MessengerSM ready for customers choosing those services.

In addition to the exclusive offer of the Motorola V120c, Verizon is announcing the national availability of the Motorola V60c, a sleek, full-featured Mobile Web™ and Mobile MessengerSM ready handset that also operates as an FM radio with the addition of a headset. With both handsets, the optional FM radio automatically mutes when a phone call comes in allowing customers to simply press a button and start talking without removing the headset. The FM radio resumes playing when the call ends. When consumers purchase the Motorola V120c or the V60c with Verizon Wireless national SingleRate™ service, customers can communicate using talk or text and listen to the radio virtually anywhere in the country.

"We are offering our customers the ultimate in convenience and portability - feature-rich wireless phones in a single package that is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand," said John Stratton, Verizon Wireless vice president and chief marketing officer. "We are excited to be the first carrier to deliver an entirely new way to stay connected and entertained."

Customers who purchase either the Motorola V120c or the V60c phone with service from Verizon Wireless between June 1 and June 30, 2001 will receive a mail-in rebate coupon for a free FM radio headset. The Motorola V120c is expected to retail at $69.99 with Verizon Wireless service.

About The Motorola V120c
Motorola's new V120c is for individuals youthful in attitude, not necessarily in age. This new affordable handset lets users talk in style with its customizable colorful covers that reflect their personality. The Motorola V120c gives users:

  • Easy Access to Information - a web-browser* puts the Internet in the palm of the user's hand.
  • Personalization in a Pinch - a 3-pack of interchangeable PhoneWrap™ covers in fashionable colors can be purchased separately.
  • Two Ways to "Talk" - users can make phone calls or communicate silently by sending short text messages*.
  • Connection with Comfort - the Motorola V120c's ergonomic design is not only aesthetically pleasing, but is also designed to contour with the user's face.
  • Voice Recognition Technology - the voice-dialing feature allows the user to recall pre-programmed voice numbers.
  • Voice Recorder - allows users to record and play back up to 2 minutes of voice notes.
  • Reason to Listen - the optional FM radio enabled headset changes the handset into a personal FM radio.

About The Motorola V60c
The Motorola V60c offers customers a variety of features packed in 4.4 ounces of sleek sophistication. The compact (2.05" x 3.67"x .79) flip phone is easy to use with a large keypad and displays. The phone has a unique dual display feature that offers two viewing options. A large interior display for standard functions and an exterior display that presents caller-ID, text messages*, or time and date.

Voice recognition technology keeps dialing to a minimum and allows users to create shortcuts to favorite features or leave reminders for themselves. The V60c also can serve as an FM radio with the addition of an optional headset accessory. The V60c is expected to retail for $399.99.

With the addition of the headset, customers have an added use for their wireless phone. Stratton points out that customers are encouraged to not use the FM headsets while driving.

"Verizon Wireless has and will continue to take an industry leadership position by supporting the use of hands-free devices while driving," he adds. "The FM radio is an option that gives customers the flexibility to use their wireless phones for a totally different purpose - entertainment. It is convergence technology at its best - the wave of the future."

Note: In some states, the use of headsets that cover both ears while driving is illegal.
*Network and subscription dependent feature. Not available in all areas.
