BELLEVUE, WA — In response to the growing demand for wireless services in the area, Verizon Wireless, the country's largest wireless provider, has announced plans to open four additional communications stores and kiosks this year in the Pacific Northwest for a total of eight new retail locations.

Since January, four new retail locations have opened -- two in Washington and two in Oregon. The addition of four more stores later this year, will create the addition of approximately 50 new sales and customer service positions as well as business opportunities for local construction, architectural and real estate firms.

"Demand for our wireless services is growing steadily," said Kelley Kurtzman, president of Verizon Wireless' Pacific Northwest Region. "Adding new stores and kiosks to our existing company-owned retail locations will make shopping for our wireless products and services easier and more convenient for customers. And, they'll receive expert advice on purchasing a phone and calling plan from our specially-trained representatives."

Locations opened so far this year include the Sullivan Center Communications Store in Spokane, Southcenter Kiosk in Seattle, Salem Center Communications Store in Salem, and Gresham Station Communications Store in Gresham. Between now and the end of the year, kiosks are slated to open in Uwajimaya Village and Alderwood Mall, both in Seattle. Stores are planned for Woodinville, Wash., and Lloyd's Center in Portland. In addition, the Downtown Portland Store will be relocated in the downtown area and will add employees to improve customer service.

Verizon Wireless' retail stores offer a full line of digital wireless phones in all price ranges, as well as hands-free car kits, headsets and wireless data products, such as Mobile Web and Mobile Office, which allow users to check e-mail and surf the web from their wireless phone or laptop.

In addition, Verizon Wireless offers customers high-quality service on the most extensive wireless network in the U.S. and a Worry Free GuaranteeSM that underscores the company's commitment to superior customer service.

"Our new stores will bring many benefits to customers and our expansion will have a positive economic impact in the communities where we're located," Kurtzman said.

Verizon Wireless has 32 Communications Stores and Kiosks in the Pacific Northwest. Nationwide, the company operates 1,400 retail stores, the largest retail chain of wireless retail outlets in the country.
