SEATTLE, WA — Verizon Wireless is offering the thousands of visitors expected at "Bite of Seattle," the opportunity to experience Mobile MessengerSM , a new service which will allow you to stay in touch with your friends easily and discreetly by swapping messages on digital wireless phones.

Visitors to the Verizon Wireless booth at the event will have the opportunity to sample this new two-way short messaging service (SMS) that will be introduced in the Seattle area later this summer. They can also make a free long distance call to anywhere in the United States, and enter contests to win reserved seating to the Southwest Airlines Torchlight Parade and the Hydroplane Races at SeaFair.

"We are extremely proud of our unique wireless service that makes it easy to communicate with just a few keystrokes," said Kelley Kurtzman, President of Verizon Wireless' Pacific Northwest Region. "Swapping messages via wireless handsets is quickly catching on as users get accustomed to the convenience, flexibility and fun two-way text messaging offers."

Mobile Messenger increases the utility of your wireless handset by giving users two ways to communicate on their phone : talk and text. With a two-way SMS-capable handset, wireless phone users can chat quickly and inexpensively with Mobile Messenger by just tapping the keypad. Mobile Messenger is a "silent" way to keep in touch with others whether in a crowd or in a movie.

When the service is available in the Puget Sound area, there will be no need to subscribe, since any Verizon Wireless customer with a two-way SMS-capable phone can just "pay as they go" with MobileMessenger With features like intuitive spelling technology (T9) and the ability to use two-way messaging options between wireless phones, computers and personal digital assistants, staying in touch has never been easier.

"Bite" visitors can also take advantage of a national promotion from Verizon Wireless that gives new and existing customers 2,000 free weekend airtime minutes a month in their home area when they sign up for selected national, regional or local digital rate plans. The 2,000 monthly free weekend airtime minutes are available as long as customers stay on the same plan.
