MERION, PA — Verizon Wireless has enhanced digital wireless service in Merion with the addition of a new digital cell site near Haverford College. Using code division multiple access (CDMA) digital technology, the site will provide improved wireless coverage along Haverford Road, Ardmore Road, Route 30, and the Haverford College campus.

CDMA wireless technology provides wireless users with greater call clarity and security, longer battery life and talk time and the ability to use advanced wireless services such as Internet access and text messaging.

"This digital network upgrade will provide customers who live and travel through these areas with improved wireless coverage," said Ann McCrystal, president of Verizon Wireless' Philadelphia Tri-State Region.

The new site is part of a $4 billion investment program in 2001 to improve and extend the reach of the Verizon Wireless nationwide network. More than $100 million of that investment was used to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless products and services in the Philadelphia Tri-State area.
