WALNUT CREEK, CA — WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest wireless provider, has improved and expanded its digital network across northern California. Based on the findings of its local team of "Can you hear me now?" Test Man experts, the company recently launched enhancements at more than 130 sites, benefiting, among others, travelers at San Jose International Airport, students and employees at California State University at Hayward, conventioneers and employees at Moscone Convention Center and civilians and military personnel residing in and around the city of Fort Bragg. The enhancements are part of the company's $8 billion investment over the last two years in its coast-to-coast network.

"Our television Test Man, with his signature 'Can you hear me now?' phrase, represents our commitment - we never stop working for you," said Tony Simpson, regional president of Verizon Wireless. "We're focused on building a network that allows our customers to make a call, with clear reception, whenever they'd like and without getting dropped."

The Verizon Wireless digital network has been enhanced to improve digital call quality and meet increasing consumer demand throughout northern California, including, but not limited to:

  • San Jose International Airport: Travelers should notice improved coverage at Terminals A and C; in the short-term parking facility; and, the general parking lot.
  • California State University at Hayward: Employees and students will benefit from increased coverage, and greater digital call capacity, on the campus and approximately one mile northeast in the Hayward Highlands area.
  • Moscone Convention Center: Conventioneers and employees should notice enhanced coverage in the north and south event halls.
  • City of Fort Bragg: The launch of digital service in the city of Fort Bragg brings numerous benefits, including superior voice quality and security, longer battery life and talk time, and the ability to use advanced wireless services such as Internet access and two-way text messaging. Customers will also be able to take advantage of Verizon Wireless' America's ChoiceSM plans. Available with specified CDMA digital Tri-Mode handsets, these plans offer customers Verizon Wireless' entire coast-to-coast footprint as their home calling area, large buckets of minutes and free long distance from the America's Choice footprint. All digital customers can also take advantage of features like Caller ID and Voicemail.
