IRVINE, CA — Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest wireless provider, has selected Marni Walden, an industry veteran and former president of the company's Desert Mountain Region, to serve as president of its Southern California Region.
In her new position, Walden will be responsible for providing strategic direction, overseeing general operations and demonstrating sales leadership for Verizon Wireless in the southern California market. The seven-county market stretches from Ventura and San Bernardino counties in the north to San Diego and Imperial counties in the south.
"Marni brings years of wireless industry leadership to her new role," said Brian Shay, Verizon Wireless' West Area president. "Her depth of knowledge and vision for sales and service excellence will be great assets for our Southern California customers. As a California State University alumnus, Marni is 'coming home' to the Golden State and we're proud she's leading our Southern California team."
Prior to joining the Southern California Region, Walden served as president of the company's Desert Mountain Region with responsibility for markets and customers in Arizona; Colorado; New Mexico; Utah; and, Wyoming. She has also served as branch director for AirTouch Cellular in Colorado and Wyoming; as general manager for AT&T Wireless in northern California, where she was responsible for managing all sales distribution channels and overall market performance; and in senior positions with Western Wireless and McCaw Communications. Walden earned a bachelor's degree in English from California State University at Chico before beginning her career in the wireless industry.
The Southern California Region of Verizon Wireless is the single largest region in the company.
