RICHMOND, VA — Virginia consumers are now free to make phone calls anytime, to any place and any way they want. Verizon is offering two new industry-leading options for their home communications services -- unlimited local, regional and long-distance calling and the most comprehensive package of communications services in the industry.

Verizon, which began offering long-distance service three months ago in the Old Dominion, this week is introducing its very popular new Veriations Freedom package in Virginia. For just $49.95, customers can get unmeasured, unlimited calling for direct-dialed calls across town, across the state or across the country and they also get the five most popular call management features, including Caller ID.

Consumers who choose the Veriations Freedom package can bundle it with Verizon's Veriations All package, which includes high-speed Internet access for just $34.95, $15 off the regular price, and a generous calling plan from Verizon Wireless. The wireless plan includes 300 anytime minutes on the America's Choice Network, unlimited night and weekend calling, 1,000 mobile-to-mobile minutes and 100 bonus any-time minutes at $34.99, a $5 monthly saving. Taken together, the two Veriations packages offer a saving of 27 to 30 percent for Virginia customers, depending on their location.

The Veriations Freedom package covers every kind of direct-dialed domestic call a person can make -- local, regional and long-distance calls - as well as calls to Canada and U.S. territories. At no extra charge, the package includes five of Verizon's most popular call-management features: Home Voice Mail, Caller ID, Call Waiting, Three-Way Calling and Speed Dialing of eight numbers.

"This is a big day for Virginians," said Jill Wagner, vice president of consumer marketing for Verizon. "A great, high-value calling plan and the industry's most comprehensive bundle of all communications services are the kinds of packages Virginians have been waiting for. They simplify managing your bills and they free you to use all of our services the way you want without worrying about extra charges.

"As Verizon has introduced the most dynamic package offers in the industry, we've promised to give customers the services they want, packaged the way they want them and to keep things simple. The Veriations packages do that," Wagner said.

The popularity of Verizon's packages has helped make the company the third-largest long-distance provider in the country.

In the three weeks since the Veriations Freedom package became available in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, tens of thousands of customers have ordered the package, far exceeding Verizon's expectations and validating customers' need for simplicity and value.

"Customers love bundled services, but hate watching the clock," said Jeff Kagan, telecommunications industry analyst, about the Veriations Freedom package. "The future is not just about the simplicity of bundles, but also about buckets of minutes and unlimited minutes for a flat fee. Verizon is tapping into one of the most important trends in the industry today. It is a very competitive offering and will keep Verizon on the cutting edge."

The unlimited long-distance calling allowance, provided by Verizon Long Distance, includes direct-dialed calls to anywhere in the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands in the Pacific. The Veriations Freedom package may be combined with certain Verizon international calling plans.

The new Veriations Freedom package will simplify customer bills. A single line item will cover all relevant package charges and call detail will not be provided.
