WOBURN, MA — Bob Stott, New England region president for Verizon Wireless will be running his 12th marathon, his 8th in Boston, to help raise awareness and funds for the Home For Little Wanderers. Stott at 55, is a 37-year veteran of the telecommunications industry and an avid runner and fitness enthusiast, is combining his love of the sport with his community outreach efforts for the second time. In 1999 he ran the Walt Disney World Marathon and raised funds for the Leukemia Society.

"I really enjoy running and I'm always ready to support children in need," Stott said. "When I learned about the opportunity to run and raise money for the Home For Little Wanderers as part of the Home Team, I jumped at the chance."

This is the third year The Home for Little Wanderers has been issued numbers as a member of the Boston Marathon® Charity Program. In the past two years, The Home Team has raised a combined total of over $200,000. This year they are setting the ambitious goal of doubling that amount! The Home Team has become an important part of The Home for Little Wanderers, not only because of the much needed funds raised by the runners, but also because each team member brings attention to the needs of the children and families they serve.

Each dollar raised by The Home Team helps continue critical programming to fulfill the Home's mission of ensuring the healthy development of children at risk, their families and communities.

"At Verizon Wireless our community programs are focused on raising awareness about the issue of domestic violence," said Stott. " The Home For Little Wanderers works with children of abuse and I'm happy to do my small part by lacing up my sneakers to run for such a good cause."
