MILWAUKEE, WI — Tens of thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts will reap the benefits of Verizon Wireless' enhanced network capacity while making their wireless calls when they converge on Milwaukee's lakefront for Harley-Davidson's 100th Anniversary Celebration August 28-30.

Verizon Wireless, the nation's leading provider of wireless communications service, has added a new cell site at Milwaukee's War Memorial to help handle the added call volume that is expected over the three-day celebration. With this network expansion, the company expects to boost its call capacity by more than 300 percent.

The new cell site is part of the Verizon Wireless' $18 million investment in its network in Wisconsin during the first half of 2003.

"Motorcycle fans have embraced wireless as a way to relay the excitement of being on the open road, rendezvous with others and check up on the kids at home," said Tracy Nolan, region president for Verizon Wireless. "This additional cell site at the War Memorial will help ensure that users traveling Lincoln Memorial Drive and within the general vicinity of the Summerfest grounds will experience the greatest network coverage possible, with optimal call clarity during peak calling times and at all times."

This enhancement made to the Verizon Wireless network is part of the company's aggressive yearly multi-billion dollar investment to improve and extend the reach of its network, the largest and most reliable in the United States. The "most reliable claim" is based on network studies performed by the real-life test men and women who inspired the company's national advertising campaign. They conduct more than 300,000 call attempts monthly on Verizon Wireless' and other national wireless carriers' networks while traveling more than 100,000 miles of the most frequently traveled roadways nationwide in specially equipped, company-owned quality test vehicles.
