PHOENIX, AZ — Verizon Wireless, operator of the nation's largest and most reliable wireless network, and INFONXX, the world's largest non-carrier provider of enhanced directory assistance, today announced TXT Messaging through 411 ConnectSM. An exclusive service for Verizon Wireless customers in the metropolitan Phoenix, Ariz. area, 411 Connect now offers a TXT Messaging option that will allow customers to receive their requested phone listing via a TXT Message at the end of every 411 call. Customers will have a convenient way of retaining the number without having to write it down.

During a traditional 411 Connect call, an operator provides customers with published landline telephone numbers for residential and business customers. Between Sept. 22, 2003 and Nov. 22, 2003, customers calling 411 Connect in the greater Phoenix area will be offered the option of receiving a TXT Message of the listing to their wireless phone. For local listings the calls will be completed as usual; for non-local listings, callers will have to dial the call as call completion for non-local numbers in not available in the Phoenix market.

"Our goal is to increase the value customers receive from their wireless service," said Tami Erwin, Desert Mountain Region President for Verizon Wireless. "Services like 411 Connect TXT Messaging option provides customers with a much needed convenience. The TXT Message delivery option helps customers improve productivity, avoid dialing errors and gives them a convenient record of the number if they can't immediately write the phone number down."

"Combining SMS technology with directory assistance is an industry first that not only adds value for Verizon Wireless customers, but also brings the experience of wireless calling to a new level," said Robert Pines, CEO of INFONXX. "INFONXX is very excited about working with Verizon Wireless to deliver innovative directory assistance products to its customers, and we look forward to expanding this program to other areas in the near future."

Verizon Wireless customers pay $1.25 plus airtime for calling 411 Connect. There is no charge to receive the TXT Message during this period, nor does it come out of customers' TXT Message bundles. Customers do not have to sign up for 411 Connect service; they simply dial 411 and press SEND.
