BEDMINSTER, NJ and NEWBURYPORT, MA — Salt Water Sportsman Magazine and Verizon Wireless, operator of the nation's largest wireless network, announced today the availability of Salt Water Tides — a national tide report service providing wireless access to Tide Data for boaters and fisherman — on Get It Now®-enabled wireless phones. With Salt Water Tides, customers can obtain Tide Reports, Tide Graphs and personalized Tide Alerts.

All Tide Data is sourced from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and powered by ekkosoft.us. Salt Water Tides accesses data from NOAA servers and uses software based on NOAA algorithms to generate tide prediction graphics for thousands of locations around the United States' coasts. Accurate tide predictions are a critical piece of information for millions of recreational boaters and fishermen.

Within seconds of picking up Verizon Wireless Get It Now-enabled phones, boaters and fishermen can receive a Tide Report listing high tide, low tide, sunrise, sunset and moon phases for more than 2,300 U.S. coastal locations. Customers can also see a full color display Tide Graph for an easy visual of the day's tidal activity including tide heights. With Salt Water Tides, Verizon Wireless Get It Now customers can also set the personalized Tide Alert feature to ring the phone once at a particular tide level or time of day is reached.

"Fishing is more productive at certain tides in different locations. Salt Water Sportsman is pleased to sponsor this product, which will give anglers the latest technology to improve their success," said Rip Cunningham, Editor-in-Chief for Salt Water Sportsman. "Features of Salt Water Tides are great for boaters and fisherman seeking the most optimum tides for their specific locations."

"Many boaters and fisherman have their wireless phones with them out on the water and this technology gives them access to information that can help them enjoy a safer time," said Mike Szabados, Director of NOAA's Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services. "One of NOAA's missions is to promote safe marine navigation, and this medium helps further that goal."

Salt Water Tides is in the getGOING shopping aisle in the Weather category of the Get It Now virtual store. Boaters and fisherman interested in sampling Salt Water Tides can access a free demo or subscribe for $3.99 monthly access. Download charges for Get It Now applications vary and airtime charges apply when browsing, downloading and using certain applications. Customers need a Get It Now-enabled handset and Verizon Wireless digital service to access the Get It Now virtual store.

Verizon Wireless products and services are available in more than 1,200 Verizon Wireless Communications Stores, at participating Circuit City and RadioShack locations and on the Web at www.verizonwireless.com.  For more information on Get It Now, visit www.verizonwireless.com/getitnow.
