CALUMET CITY, IL — In response to the growing demand for the company's voice and data products and services, Verizon Wireless, the nation's leading wireless service provider, has opened a new store in Calumet City at 1245 Torrence Avenue.

"Our customer base is rapidly expanding in Calumet City, and we're excited to open this new location to better serve area residents," said Tracy Nolan, president of Verizon Wireless' Illinois/Wisconsin Region. "With the new store, we offer customers in the community the very latest wireless communications technology in a modern, well-equipped, customer-friendly environment. Our Calumet City sales team delivers a high level of customer support and a broad range of equipment and service plans to suit every need, all backed by our Worry Free GuaranteeSM."

Wire-Cutting Ceremony Features Donation, Call to Action to Donate Canned Goods
To mark the grand opening, a wire-cutting ceremony will be held at noon on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at the new Verizon Wireless Communications Store. The ceremony is open to the public and will include a check presentation in the amount of $1,000 to the Faith Bailey Center, a community outreach group serving the Calumet City area. Hildy Peterson, district manager for Verizon Wireless, will present the check to Debbie Sellers, director of the Faith Bailey Center.

Several prominent members of the Calumet City community also will also be present at the wire-cutting ceremony, including Mayor Michelle Markiewicz Qualkinbush and Frank Orsini, president of the Calumet City Chamber of Commerce.

Along with the financial contribution to the Faith Bailey Center, Verizon Wireless is putting out a "Call to Action" to residents of the Calumet City area to bring canned goods to the Verizon Wireless store to donate to the center's food pantry. Verizon Wireless will match each can donated through the month of February with a dollar donation to the Faith Bailey Center to fight hunger and homelessness.

"Hunger and homelessness are a reality in all communities — including Calumet City," said Peterson. "We encourage Calumet City residents to join Verizon Wireless, which is dedicated to serving the community and assisting local residents in need, to do the same by donating canned goods to the Faith Bailey Center."

The new Verizon Wireless Communications Store will feature a variety of wireless solutions for customers including Picture and TXT Messaging, Push To Talk and Get It Now® with downloadable ringtones and games, and high-speed wireless Internet connections with the Verizon Wireless NationalAccess Network. Jason Starzak is the manager of the new store.

Store hours are 9 a.m. — 8 p.m., Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. — 6 p.m., Saturday; and noon — 5 p.m., Sunday.
