PITTSBURGH, PA — Verizon Wireless, the nation's leading wireless service provider, today announced improvements at dozens of cell sites in Pennsylvania during the final quarter of 2003 and January 2004, improving coverage and capacity along some of the state's busiest roadways as well as in rural areas.

A new cell site in Shavertown in Luzerne County will improve Verizon Wireless service and coverage along Route 309 in the Back Mountain Region and along Caverton Road in Kingston Township. The new Memco Lane site improves coverage along the Pittston bypass, in the town of Avoca and at the Dupont exit of I-81. Additionally, improvements at the Hazelton, Freeland, Conyngham, Dorrance and Shickshinny cell sites enhance service in those areas.

In Lackawanna County, a new cell site in Moscow will enhance Verizon Wireless coverage in the town of Moscow and along I-380 and routes 690 and 435. The new Factoryville site improves coverage along Route 6 and supplies service to Keystone College in La Plume.

"Verizon Wireless is committed to providing our customers with the best network," said Roger Tang, president — Ohio/Pennsylvania Region, Verizon Wireless. "We understand our customers expect that when they press 'send' on their wireless phones, their calls will go through, sound clear and stay connected for the duration of their conversation. That's why, across the state in 2003, we spent $187 million on our network in Pennsylvania. In 2004, our network remains our top priority."

Verizon Wireless has invested more than $12 billion over the past three years in its national network, offering customers access to the most extensive and reliable wireless voice and data network in the United States.
