BEDMINSTER, NJ — Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest wireless service provider and operator of the most reliable wireless network, has been ranked No. 20 in Training magazine's 2004 list of "Top 100 Training Organizations in America." 2004 marks the third consecutive year Verizon Wireless has been included in the Top 100 and has advanced in the rankings.

Verizon Wireless is the highest ranked wireless service provider. The company was praised for "Plan Your Career," an innovative approach to career counseling. A blend of online and classroom learning activities allows employees to identify growth opportunities and establish action plans to drive their career development. By empowering employees to guide the development process, Verizon Wireless has accelerated learning and increased company productivity.

Plan Your Career is housed on the Verizon Wireless intranet. Employees visiting the site follow a three-step process. The first step, "You," involves employee self-assessment in the areas of skills, interests and values. Step two, "Your Organization," allows employees to assess the company's employment landscape for future opportunities. The final step, "Your Action," helps employees identify their specific career goals.

"Verizon Wireless is pleased to be named as one of the top 20 training organizations in the nation by Training magazine and ranked among the best for the third consecutive year," said Marc Reed, vice president - Human Resources for Verizon Wireless. "Verizon Wireless is committed to providing the best wireless service on the most reliable wireless network. We recognize that our employees are the driving force behind our success. Our company is committed to providing training and development tools that enable them to perform at their peak and provide outstanding service and support to our more than 37.5 million customers."

"Through its comprehensive workforce training and development programs, Verizon Wireless clearly understands that the ultimate success of the organization is directly related to the extent that people are encouraged to develop their own potential," says Tammy Galvin, Editor-in-Chief of Training magazine. "What's more, Verizon Wireless not only does a phenomenal job of ensuring that all of those development initiatives are tied to real business results, but they also prove those results through hard-and-fast metrics."

This is the third year in a row Verizon Wireless was listed in the Top 100. In 2003, the company ranked No. 26. Training combines quantitative and qualitative data to rank organizations that excel at developing their employees to deliver business results and support their corporate values while enhancing the work lives of their people. The complete list of Training magazine's "Top 100 Training Organizations in America" is included in the March 2004 issue.
