ATLANTA and BEDMINSTER, NJ — Sony Music Entertainment (SME), one of the world's leading music companies, and Verizon Wireless, the nation's leading provider of wireless communications, announced today the launch of "Sony Music Box" service, a full music offering for Verizon Wireless Get It Now customers. With Sony Music Box, Verizon Wireless Get It Now customers can download a wide variety of media, including actual music clips from sound recordings (Music Tones), digital Voice Tones, polyphonic ringtones, and wallpaper images.

Created by the Sony Music Mobile Group, Sony Music Box incorporates a mobile media browser that will enable Verizon Wireless Get It Now customers to browse and purchase:

  • Music Tones — A large, comprehensive library of genuine, digital Music Tones excerpted from actual sound recordings. The initial Sony Music offering includes more than 400 current hits and classic favorites, including selections from artists such as Beyonce, Nas, John Mayer, Jessica Simpson, B2K, Bow Wow, Marvin Gaye, and many others.
  • Digital Voice Tones — Spoken word ringtones including celebrity voice greetings, fun phrases, and exclusive artist messages, including offerings from such artists as Jessica Simpson and Jagged Edge.
  • Polyphonic Ringtones — Polyphonic ringtone renditions of hundreds of popular songs, helpfully organized by genre and theme.
  • SingTones — Specialized Voice Tones delivering a musical arrangement of the 100 most popular names, sung by a human voice (e.g., "Paul, Paul, Paul, pick up the phone.")
  • Wallpaper Images — Artist-branded images, as well as fun themes and cartoons to personalize the handset's screen.
