TAMPA, FL — James Handley, an associate director of human resources with Verizon Wireless in the company's Temple Terrace office, has earned the designation of Global Human Resources Professional (GHRP) from the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM).

Handley is one of just 71 SHRM members worldwide who have passed the rigorous testing process required to earn the GHRP designation. The Society for Human Resource Management is the world's largest association devoted to human resource management, with more than 180,000 individual members.

In addition to this new distinction, Handley is one of only 70 professionals around the world who previously earned triple certification as a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), Certified Benefits Professional (CBP), and Global Remuneration Professional (GRP) through WorldatWork, the world's leading not-for-profit professional association dedicated to leadership in compensation, benefits and total rewards. To earn the WorldatWork triple certification, Handley passed a battery of 17 tests over a three-year time period.

Handley, a Michigan native who has been with Verizon Wireless since 1999, holds a Bachelor's degree in management from Michigan State University and an MBA from Texas Christian University. He and his wife Amy reside in New Tampa with their infant son Chaz.
