PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Philadelphia Business Journal named Christine Baron, president of Verizon Wireless' Philadelphia Tri-State Region, a "40 Under 40" award winner. The distinction recognizes 40 individuals under the age of 40 from the Philadelphia area who are proven performers in their respective industries and communities.
Baron oversees the Philadelphia Tri-State Region for the nation's largest wireless company. She is responsible for business and consumer sales, customer service, 38 company-owned retail stores and kiosks and the continuous expansion of the company's extensive wireless network throughout southeastern Pennsylvania, Delaware and southern New Jersey.
Baron, a resident of Middlesex County, N.J., has more than a decade of wireless sales management and operations experience and is the youngest female regional president in the company's history. "Chris is a resourceful business executive, a dynamic individual, and a contributor to the communities in which she lives and works. Her commitment to her customers, her employees, and the community make her highly deserving of this honor," said Rick Conrad, Verizon Wireless' Northeast Area President.
Prior to being appointed regional president in March 2002, Baron was vice president of Northeast Area Marketing and Sales Operations, responsible for sales support for all channels in the company's Northeast Area, including store expansion, relocation and merchandising, sales materials, facilities management and training and development. She joined Verizon Wireless in 1991 as an Account Executive.
