EVANSVILLE, IN — Verizon Wireless has activated three new cell sites and enhanced the digital service of five existing sites for its customers across the Evansville area. The network enhancements enable customers to experience clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.

The new Richland Creek cell site improves coverage in Princeton, Ind., and on U.S. Highway 41 between the towns of Princeton and Hazleton. A second new cell site improves digital coverage to the north of Evansville including the areas of the junction of State Road 57 and Boonville-New Harmony Road, Interstate 164 between the towns of Daylight and Elberfeld, and on Petersburg Road near Boonville-New Harmony Road.

A third new cell site near Patoka Lake provides coverage for the town of Celestine along SR-164, east from Jasper to SR-145; along SR-545, north from SR-164 to Dubois; and along SR-145 from Patoka Lake south to Birdseye.

Verizon Wireless also has improved the capacity — the number of callers capable of being on the network concurrently — at five existing cell sites throughout Evansville.

"These network upgrades enable us to continue meeting the growing needs of local businesses and consumers who rely on their wireless phones for just about everything from answering voicemails, reading email and checking on the kids," said Greg Haller, president, Indiana/Kentucky/Michigan Region, Verizon Wireless. "Maintaining network superiority is our top priority; it's what our customers expect of us."

The improvements are part of Verizon Wireless' continuous upgrades to its network in Indiana and across the country. During the past three years, Verizon Wireless has invested more than $12 billion in its national network, offering customers access to the most extensive and reliable wireless voice and data network in the United States. More than $67 million of that investment was used last year to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless products and services in Indiana.
