AUSTIN, TX — Verizon Wireless, the nation's leading wireless service provider, has named Geoffrey Ryder as business sales manager of strategic accounts for Austin, San Antonio and the Rio Grande Valley. Based in Austin, Ryder is responsible for leading, managing and motivating a team of strategic account managers in Texas focused on large business accounts to meet and exceed defined sales, retention, quality and service objectives.

"Geoffrey's extensive background in sales and management will be a huge asset in implementing new strategic business plans across Texas," said Wendy Furchak, associate director of strategic sales for Verizon Wireless. "Verizon Wireless continues to aggressively add new business because of our quality products and the nation's best network."

Prior to joining Verizon Wireless, Ryder was director of strategic initiatives at MCI in Austin. He spent 20 years at MCI in various sales and management positions all over the country. Ryder won several national awards at MCI, including leading the top-ranked district in both overall sales growth in 2000 and new logo sales in 1998 and 1999. He currently resides in Austin.
