BEDMINSTER, NJ and SAN MATEO, CA — Verizon Wireless, the nation's leading wireless service provider, and Sorrent Inc., a leading mobile entertainment publisher, today announced the availability of 5-card Draw Poker on Verizon Wireless' Get It Now® service. Following the growing poker trend, 5-card Draw Poker is North America's first multiplayer draw poker game for wireless phones, allowing Verizon Wireless Get It Now customers to wirelessly join tables of up to four players.

5-card Draw Poker includes both single player and multiplayer modes, and offers customers several other features, including:

  • Fold, Call, Bet and Raise — Participate in up to three rounds of betting for each draw.
  • Mobile PersonaTM — Create a personal online identity which records and tracks statistics for each game played over time. Mobile Personas can also be used in other Sorrent games, such as FOX SportsTMMultiplayer Boxing and FOX SportsTMMultiplayer Racing.
  • First-person Perspective — Play face-to-face with opponents' Mobile Personas.
  • VIP Status — Increase VIP status as players reach stack size milestones for bragging rights among the poker community.
  • Leaderboards — Post scores to the "All Time Best" leaderboard and see how scores size up against other mobile card sharks.

"5-card Draw Poker offers an accessible mobile poker experience to players of all skill levels, while retaining the competitive elements that more serious poker players want," said Robert Nashak, vice president of production at Sorrent.

The large full-color screen on the LG VX4500 from Verizon Wireless helps players see all the action, so it is easy to see the hand that has been dealt while playing 5-card Draw Poker. The LG VX4500's speaker phone, voice dialing and room for 499 contacts in the phone's contact list make placing calls a snap, so card sharks can call their friends after the game to boast of their winning ways. And there is no need for gamers to cash in all their chips to afford this phone — through October 11, 2004 the LG VX4500 is available for $59.99 after a $50 rebate with a two-year customer agreement.

Verizon Wireless customers can find Sorrent 5-card Draw Poker in the getGAMES shopping aisle in the Get It Now virtual store. Verizon Wireless customers with select Get It Now-enabled phones can purchase Sorrent 5-card Draw Poker for $3.99 monthly access.

The Get It Now virtual store offers customers 500 applications that are easy to use, including games, ringtones, productivity applications and more. Download charges for Get It Now applications vary and airtime charges apply when browsing, downloading and using certain applications. Customers need a Get It Now-enabled handset and Verizon Wireless digital service to access the Get It Now virtual store.

Get It Now-enabled phones are available in more than 1,200 Verizon Wireless Communications Stores, at participating Circuit City and RadioShack locations, and on the Web at http://www.verizonwireless.com.
