BEDMINSTER, NJ and SAN JOSE, CA — Verizon Wireless, the nation's leading wireless service provider, and FusionOne, a developer of innovative mobile services, announced today the availability of Backup Assistant™ in the Get It Now® virtual store. Developed and hosted by FusionOne and available for download to Verizon Wireless Get It Now customers, Backup Assistant automatically safeguards customers' address books against phone loss, damage or theft, and eliminates the need to manually transfer contacts when a phone is replaced or upgraded.

Verizon Wireless customers with select Get It Now-enabled phones, including the LG VX6000, can sign up for Backup Assistant and complete their first backup in a matter of minutes. Backup Assistant then performs secure backups automatically — when the phone is not in use, on a schedule the user selects — only connecting to the network if information in the address book has changed.

Verizon Wireless Get It Now customers can find Backup Assistant in the getGOING shopping aisle in the Get It Now virtual store. Verizon Wireless customers with select Get It Now-enabled phones can download Backup Assistant for $1.99 monthly access. Once customers sign up for Backup Assistant they can also view, edit or print their mobile phone address books online by logging on to www.verizonwireless.com/backupassistant and entering their mobile number and security PIN code. Any changes made to the online address book will automatically synchronize back to the mobile phone address book in a matter of seconds.

"Many mobile phone subscribers have invested a lot of time typing contact names and numbers into their phones — that's part of what makes losing a phone so stressful," said Jim Straight, vice president of wireless data and multimedia for Verizon Wireless. "We've worked closely with FusionOne to introduce Backup Assistant, to provide peace of mind to our customers — and to help make it easier to replace or upgrade their mobile phones."

"Our research suggests that more than 20% of mobile phone subscribers in the U.S. purchase handset insurance, but this only protects the device - not the precious data inside it," said Rick Onyon, president and CEO of FusionOne. "With Backup Assistant, Verizon Wireless can offer its customers address book protection, mobile phone insurance, or both together for complete protection of the device and its data."

For customers downloading Backup Assistant because they want to upgrade their phones, Verizon Wireless is offering a great deal on one of its popular camera phones, the LG VX6000. The sleek design and built-in camera help Verizon Wireless customers get the most out of their wireless experience wherever they go — and the Get It Now-enabled LG VX6000 with its vibrant full color screen is perfect for playing one of the hundreds of games available in the getGAMES shopping aisle. Through October 11, 2004, the LG VX6000 is available for $99.99 after a $70 rebate with a two-year customer agreement.

The Get It Now virtual store offers a catalog of more than 500 applications that are easy to use, including games, ringtones, productivity applications and more. Download charges for Get It Now applications vary and airtime charges apply when browsing, downloading and using certain applications. Customers need a Get It Now-enabled handset and Verizon Wireless digital service to access the Get It Now virtual store. Get It Now phones are available in more than 1,200 Verizon Wireless Communications Stores, at participating Best Buy, Circuit City and RadioShack locations, and on the Web at www.verizonwireless.com.
