BEDMINSTER, NJ — With Americans' use of data services such as TXT Messaging growing fast, Verizon Wireless now offers customers the capability to check their TXT Message usage right from their wireless phones. By dialing #DATA, customers can find out how many TXT Messages have been sent and received during the current monthly billing period — an especially helpful tool for those who share data usage on Verizon Wireless' America's ChoiceSM Family SharePlan®.

To access TXT Messaging usage information, a customer simply dials #DATA (#3282) and Send from their wireless phone. Once connected, the customer will hear up-to-the-minute details about all domestic and international TXT Messages sent and received since the beginning of the billing cycle. All customers will also receive a free TXT Message with usage information included. The call to #DATA is toll and airtime free. Customers can also follow prompts from the #DATA menu to find additional information about airtime voice-calling minutes used on their account or can dial #MIN directly to access information about peak, off-peak, weekend and IN Network minutes used since the last billing date. In addition, Verizon Wireless customer service representatives are available to review TXT and minute usage by calling, toll-free, *611 from a Verizon Wireless handset, or 1-800-2 JOIN IN, from any phone.

"Our customers have already been using #MIN to check on their usage of plan minutes — so #DATA is a natural next step as an increasing number of customers are turning to TXT Messaging to quickly communicate with friends and family," said Lowell McAdam, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Verizon Wireless. "TXT Messaging is especially popular with teenagers, and #DATA provides a helpful, simple way to monitor family TXT Messaging usage."

Verizon Wireless customers can check their TXT Message usage 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Customers can also visit www.verizonwireless.com to view their data usage information online using My Account. #DATA also provides kilobyte usage information to those customers who use kilobyte products.

Verizon Wireless customers can pay as they go for TXT Messaging, which is just $0.02 for each message received and $0.10 for each message sent, or select from bundled plans. Bundled plans are $2.99 per month for 100 messages, $4.99 per month for 250 messages, $9.99 per month for 1,000 messages and the recently introduced $19.99 per month for 2,500 messages sent or received. The same prices apply to International TXT Messaging with customers of participating carriers in Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. The rate for other International TXT Messaging with customers of participating carriers is $.25 for each message sent and $0.02 for each message received. For more information, visit www.vtext.com. Approximately one-third of the company's base — 14.6 million customers — uses data services and customers this past summer alone sent about 2.6 billion TXT Messages.
