Dallas, TX — Verizon Wireless, owner and operator of the nation's most reliable network, has named Lee Maschmann as executive director of network for the Central Texas Region, a territory that includes Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, the Rio Grande Valley, Shreveport, Little Rock and southern Oklahoma. Headquartered in Southlake, Texas, Maschmann will be responsible for all aspects of network operations, engineering and system performance to meet the growing demand for its voice and data services.

"Lee's extensive knowledge of our region, combined with his 20 years of experience in the wireless industry, makes him an ideal choice for this critical leadership position," said Hans Leutenegger, vice president of network for Verizon Wireless.

Maschmann will continue to build on the momentum generated in 2004, when Verizon Wireless invested $5 billion in its national network and activated 187 new cell sites in Texas, Oklahoma and Western Louisiana to provide customers access to the most extensive voice and data network in the United States.

Maschmann joins Verizon Wireless after more than nine years at AT&T Wireless, where he held various positions in network engineering and operations, as well as partnership operations. He started his wireless career with MetroCel Cellular in 1985 as director of operations and was later promoted to vice president of engineering and operations for the company. He earned a bachelor's degree in electronic engineering technology from DeVry Institute of Technology in Dallas.
