MILWAUKEE, WI — Now that spring is upon us, do you need an incentive to kick-start your spring cleaning? Verizon Wireless, owner and operator of the nation's most reliable wireless network, needs no-longer-used wireless phones and equipment for its HopeLineSM phone recycling program. So, whether it's a handful of chargers, batteries or wireless phones collecting dust in drawers and closets, you can rid yourself of some clutter by donating your wireless equipment to help stop domestic violence.

Verizon Wireless' HopeLine program collects no-longer-used wireless phones and accessories, in any condition and from any provider, to benefit domestic violence survivors nationwide. The phones are recycled or refurbished, with proceeds from their sale going to fund non-profit agencies and to purchase other wireless phones for victims of domestic violence. Verizon Wireless provides victims with these phones, airtime minutes and other features such as voicemail, which can play an important role in helping them rebuild their lives.

This past October, Verizon Wireless and the Green Bay Packers teamed up to invite fans to donate phones to the HopeLine program prior to the team's Monday Night Football game against the Tennessee Titans. During that single drive, Verizon Wireless collected more than 400 phones for the benefit of victims of domestic violence.

"Spring is a time of renewed energy, and the HopeLine program enables people to put that energy into helping the community," said Tracy Nolan, president—Wisconsin/Illinois Region, Verizon Wireless. "It's estimated that more than 100 million wireless phones will be 'retired' this year in the United States alone. For consumers who are upgrading to new phones, HopeLine provides an alternative to just throwing handsets away."

Verizon Wireless is a recognized corporate leader in the ongoing domestic violence awareness campaign. HopeLine, which marks its 10th anniversary in 2005, was the nation's first wireless phone collection program run by a service provider. By the end of 2004, Verizon Wireless had collected approximately 2 million phones through the HopeLine program and donated more than $1 million in HopeLine funds to organizations engaged in raising awareness of domestic violence and its prevention.

Wireless phones and equipment can be donated to the HopeLine program at any Verizon Wireless Communications Store nationwide, including those is the greater Milwaukee area. Wireless phones and equipment donations also can be sent to:

2555 Bishop Circle W.
