BINGHAMTON, NY — In a continuing effort to provide the best wireless service for local residents, Verizon Wireless, operator of the nation's most reliable wireless network, has expanded its wireless network in Tioga County, PA, by adding a new site in the Town of Liberty. The new site will increase coverage and capacity along Route 15 and in the Town of Blossburg.

Along with this network upgrade, Northern Pennsylvania customers now also have the option of obtaining local mobile telephone number exchanges. Customers residing in Potter, Tioga, Susquehanna and Bradford Counties who are currently assigned mobile numbers with Southern New York exchanges may request that their numbers be changed at any Verizon Wireless Communications store. New Verizon Wireless customers will be automatically assigned numbers with local exchanges.

The new cell site and network upgrade is part of the company's aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment each year (more than $1 billion every 90 days) to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless voice and data services. The company invested more than $5.5 billion last year in its wireless network to add coverage and capacity, and to make available wireless data services such as Picture Messaging, TXT Messaging, downloadable applications such as ring tones and games and wireless Internet services.

Demand for Verizon Wireless services continued during the fourth quarter last year as the company added a record 1.7 million net new customers. Verizon Wireless now serves 43.8 million customers nationwide and is the nation's wireless leader in customer loyalty, based on customer retention and turnover rates announced publicly by the largest wireless providers.

"Customers choose Verizon Wireless and stay with us because they want wireless service they can rely on," John Palmer, president of Verizon Wireless' Upstate New York Region. "The company's continued investment in its premier wireless network and our strong customer service focus are the drivers behind our industry-leading customer growth and financial performance."

Verizon Wireless' investment in its wireless network also is part of the company's commitment to offer customers the most reliable service available in the nation. The company's 'most reliable network' claim is based on network studies performed by real-life test men and test women who inspired the company's national advertising campaign. The engineers conduct more than 300,000 call attempts monthly on Verizon Wireless' and other national wireless carriers' networks while traveling over 100,000 miles a month on the most frequently traveled roadways nationwide in specially equipped, company-owned quality test vehicles.*

Verizon Wireless' high-speed BroadbandAccess data network is the fastest, widely available broadband wireless network in the nation, offering customers average speeds between 400 kbps - 700 kbps. The service is now available in many markets with expansion underway across the nation. Customers in areas that do not yet have access to BroadbandAccess can use Verizon Wireless' NationalAccess data network, which offers comparable to dial-up speeds, with bursts up to 144 kbps. High-speed wireless provides customers with Internet access, access to corporate intranets and traditional email functionality via a laptop or personal digital assistants.

*Test Man Ride-Along Program
Specially-equipped Verizon Wireless test vehicles simultaneously test the networks of six wireless providers, using a mobile laptop computer to generate phonically diverse "conversations." If you are interested in setting up an interview or ride-along test drive with your local Verizon Wireless test man or woman, please contact John O'Malley at 585-321-7264.
