BEDMINSTER, NJ — Verizon Wireless, operator of the nation's most reliable network and award-winning provider of enterprise services, today announced new data pricing for enterprise customers, as well as new software branded as Wireless Sync Workgroup and Wireless Sync Enterprise Server, for work groups and large enterprises. These solutions will use wireless "push" technology from Intellisync to provide wireless e-mail for enterprises of all sizes.

New Data Pricing — NationalAccess, BroadbandAccess, BlackBerry & PDA/Smartphone E-mail
Enterprise customers can gain a competitive edge by accessing business-critical data and applications behind the corporate firewall with Verizon Wireless' NationalAccess and BroadbandAccess services. Together, these two services offer an affordable, national mobile wireless data solution that provides employees with the mobility, coverage and speed they need. Unlimited use of NationalAccess is now $59.99 for monthly access, a savings of $20 a month, while unlimited use of BroadbandAccess is $79.99 monthly access.

NationalAccess is Verizon Wireless' national wireless high-speed data service that allows customers to access the Internet, intranet, e-mail, attachments and business applications from their laptops at average speeds of 60-80 kbps and bursts of up to 144 kbps based on Verizon Wireless stringent testing. NationalAccess is available in thousands of cities and towns across the nation.

BroadbandAccess is Verizon Wireless' premier data service, offering employees one of the fastest, fully mobile wide-area wireless data solutions available today. Developed with a range of users in mind, Verizon Wireless' BroadbandAccess operates on the company's Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) network, giving customers a fast, convenient way to conduct business anytime, anywhere while providing employees the speeds required to work efficiently outside the office. This high-speed wireless service, available in a growing number of markets throughout the U.S., provides customers with average speeds of 400-700 kbps, capable of bursts up to 2 Mbps based on Verizon Wireless tests.

Because EV-DO is backward compatible — a distinct advantage to using CDMA technology — customers who travel outside a BroadbandAccess coverage area with an EV-DO device will seamlessly switch to Verizon Wireless' existing NationalAccess network. Earlier this month, CMP Media LLC's Network Computing announced that Verizon Wireless was awarded Best Business Data Service for its BroadbandAccess service in the publication's 2005 Well-Connected Awards, beating out business data services of two other major wireless carriers.

Effective May 23, Verizon Wireless will introduce new BlackBerry & PDA/Smartphone data service plans for customers with handheld devices. Customers purchasing any Verizon Wireless Blackberry or PDA/Smartphone have the option of data plans that include 10 MB for $29.99 or unlimited data service for $49.99. Customers adding data plans to any America's ChoiceSM plan of $39.99 or higher will receive a $5.00 discount on their chosen data plan.

Wireless Sync for Businesses
Powered by Intellisync, Wireless Sync is becoming one of the most reliable, secure and scalable wireless software brands in the market — and one that business customers need. With Wireless Sync Workgroup and Wireless Sync Enterprise Server, Verizon Wireless business customers can get a full spectrum of mobile capabilities and deployment options to help keep them competitive.

Wireless Sync Workgroup keeps up to twenty users up-to-the-minute with their groupware-based e-mail, calendars, contacts and tasks. The solution provides software that can be quickly downloaded and installed on a standard PC to monitor e-mail and PIM data in Microsoft Exchange® or Lotus Domino®, and then push the information to the users' Treo, PocketPC, or Smartphone device.

Wireless Sync Enterprise Server provides an enterprise-class, behind-the-firewall mobility platform for large customers capable of scaling to support thousands of users. It provides secure mobile data delivery for e-mail, calendar, contacts, tasks and other enterprise data to Verizon Wireless Smartphones and PDAs. Wireless Sync Enterprise Server has features that enable enterprises to secure mobile devices and disable lost or stolen devices over-the-air (OTA), providing increased protection of corporate information.

Wireless Sync Workgroup and Wireless Sync Enterprise Server provide several advantages compared with similar offerings in the marketplace:

  • The solutions can be configured to support any customer, whether they have 5 or 5,000 users.
  • Supports the major e-mail and PIM platforms deployed today in the enterprise: Microsoft Exchange® or Lotus Domino®.
  • Regardless of the deployment model selected, Wireless Sync provides a single, consistent user interface, minimizing the support burden and maximizing user productivity.
  • Wireless Sync offers advanced security models for enterprise customers and provides a variety of configurations to meet the needs of each customer.

New Device Support — palmOne Treo 650 and Samsung i730
Wireless Sync Workgroup and Wireless Sync Enterprise Server will support both the palmOne Treo 650 Smartphone and the upcoming Samsung i730. The award-winning Treo 650 Smartphone is now available to Verizon Wireless business customers with the latest version of Wireless Sync software. The Treo 650 Smartphone builds on the high-quality design of the Treo 600 with new and improved features including Bluetooth® wireless technology, a removable battery and a brighter display. Wireless Sync for the Treo 650 includes inbox synchronization and the integration of up to three additional POP3 or IMAP e-mail accounts. The service is compatible with Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes.

An additional device will be added this summer when Verizon Wireless offers Samsung's new SCH-i730, featuring Microsoft's Windows MobileTM Pocket PC 2nd Edition software. Working on the go is a breeze with features such as built-in support for EV-DO and Bluetooth® for quick wireless access to the Internet. Additionally, the i730 integrates an SDI/O expansion slot for memory expansion and additional productivity applications that can be easily loaded to the device.

The Treo 650 is $399.99 with a two-year customer agreement. Enterprise customers may contact their Verizon Wireless Business Specialist at 1 800-VZW-4BIZ, while consumers may purchase the Treo 650 after May 23 at any of the 1,900 Verizon Wireless Communications stores inclusive of Verizon Wireless stores at Circuit City.
