BEDMINSTER, NJ — Verizon Wireless, owner and operator of the nation's most reliable wireless network, is once again the nation's wireless leader in customer loyalty. Verizon Wireless ended 2004 with the lowest customer turnover rates in the wireless industry and based on recently announced customer retention and turnover rates for the first quarter of 2005, Verizon Wireless has kicked off this year in the same position.

Posting a 1.33% churn rate — the percentage of customers who disconnect their service in a given period of time — Verizon Wireless boasts the lowest Q1 2005 churn rate, well below the industry average. According to the most recent earnings announcements issued by the nation's largest wireless carriers, churn rates were as follows:

Q1 2005 Churn Rate
Verizon Wireless   1.3%

Carrier A   1.5%
Carrier B   2.2%
Carrier C   2.5%
Carrier D   2.8%

"Our commitment to customer satisfaction is evidenced by these latest numbers," said Lowell McAdam, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Verizon Wireless. "We recognize that the loyalty of our customers is tied to our ability to provide them with the highest levels of service the wireless industry has to offer and we will always strive to offer the highest quality products and services and the nation's most reliable wireless network."

Verizon Wireless posted the lowest annual churn rates among national wireless carriers in 2004, a record 1.5%. The company also added 6.3 million customers throughout the year, more customers than any other U.S. wireless carrier.

Verizon Wireless is dedicated to delivering outstanding customer satisfaction and the industry's best customer service — in-person, over the phone and online. The company has regularly invested more than $4 billion nationally each year since its inception — and more than $5 billion last year alone — to expand and upgrade its nationwide wireless network.
