JOPLIN, MO — In its continuing effort to provide the best wireless service in Joplin, Verizon Wireless, owner and operator of the nation's most reliable wireless network, has expanded its network with two new cell sites.

Activation of the new cell sites enhances network coverage and capacity in the following areas:

  • North along Maple Road, County Road 227 and Highway 71 at Brooklyn Heights
  • South along North Madison, Carl Junction Road, Dogwood Road and County Road 190
  • West along County Road 260, Highway 96, Highway 71 and Highway HH
  • East along Country Road 185, Highway 96, Highway HH and Country Road 170

The new cell sites are part of Verizon Wireless' aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment each year to stay ahead of the growing demand in Joplin and nationwide for the company's popular voice and data services, including TXT Messaging, Picture Messaging, NationalAccess wireless Internet access and Get It Now® ringtones, ringback tones, games, productivity applications and more.

"Customers choose Verizon Wireless and stay with us because they know they'll get wireless service they can depend on," said Mark Crumpton, president—Kansas/Missouri Region, Verizon Wireless. "The company's investment in its nationwide wireless network and its focus on strong customer service are the drivers behind our industry-leading growth."

Since its inception, the company has consistently spent more than $4 billion every year-and more than $5 billion last year-to expand and enhance its network nationwide. Approximately $91 million of this investment was spent in 2004 to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless products and services in the Kansas/Missouri Region.

EDITORS NOTE: Test Man Ride-Along Program for the News Media
