SAN DIEGO and BEDMINSTER, NJ — Kyocera Wireless Corp., a leading global manufacturer of CDMA wireless phones and devices, and Verizon Wireless, owner and operator of the nation's most reliable network, today announced the immediate availability of the Kyocera KX1 wireless handset to Verizon Wireless customers. The Kyocera KX1's unique asymmetrical design, customizable faceplates, external caller ID, and large keypad combine fashion and functionality together in an easy to use color flip phone.

The tri-mode KX1 handset features a light-gray removable flip cover with vertical external caller ID for easy viewing. Verizon Wireless customers can also change the look of the Kyocera KX1 with different colored faceplates available at Verizon Wireless retail locations (sold separately). The phone sports an angled, asymmetrical design on the bottom of the phone for a snug fit in the palm of a hand. Once open, the large keypad offers easy input for TXT Messaging and dialing, and incorporates TTY and TDD capabilities for the hearing impaired. The "clamshell" handset features a speakerphone, two-way messaging, predictive text messaging (in English, Spanish, and Portuguese), and productivity tools including a calculator, scheduler, alarm clock and more. Inside, KX1 features a 65,000-color display and is Get It Now®-enabled to allow for easy downloading of games, ring tones, productivity applications and more.

"Our consumer research has told us time and time again that there's a huge market for a phone that's easy to use and looks good," said Tsuyoshi Mano, president of Kyocera Wireless Corp. "While KX1 certainly looks sharp and includes great features such as Get It Now and external caller ID, we've designed it mainly to appeal to the vast majority of wireless users who, first and foremost, are most concerned with making a call or sending a quick text message."

Weighing only 3.52 ounces and measuring 4.45" x 1.89" x .91", the Kyocera KX1 sustains up to 3.5 hours of talk time and up to 180 hours of standby time on a standard lithium ion battery. KX1 is available for $39.99 with a two-year customer agreement at Verizon Wireless Communications Stores nationwide.
