PADUCAH, KY — Verizon Wireless has installed additional equipment on three existing cell sites in Paducah that enable more customers to use their wireless phones concurrently to make calls, send and receive TXT and Picture Messages, and download games and ring tones, while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.

These cell site upgrades improve Verizon Wireless' voice and data network in the following areas:

  • Downtown Paducah
  • In and around Kentucky Oaks Mall
  • Along Interstate 24 between Old Husband Road and Noble Road
  • Along State Highways 45, 60, 62 and 305 within Paducah's city limits

"As our customers from across western Kentucky head to Paducah-whether it's for a day at Kentucky Oaks Mall or an evening at Downtown After Dinner-they will enjoy the reliable service they have come to expect from Verizon Wireless," said Greg Haller, president — Kentucky/Michigan/Indiana Region, Verizon Wireless.

Reliable service is fundamental to customer loyalty, and Verizon Wireless boasts the highest customer loyalty in the industry. During the first quarter of 2005, only 1.33% of its customers disconnected their service, which is well below the industry average.

"The value we offer our customers is closely tied to our industry-leading customer retention," Haller said. "Wireless consumers today understand that value is not defined by price alone. A significant reason why our customers choose Verizon Wireless and stay with us is because we offer the nation's most reliable network."

These recent improvements in Paducah are part of Verizon Wireless' continuous effort to increase capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Kentucky and across the country. Since its inception, the company has consistently spent more than $4 billion annually-and more than $5 billion last year-to expand and improve its network nationwide. Approximately $25.6 million of this investment was spent in 2004 to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless products and services in Kentucky.
