BEDMINSTER, NJ and NEW YORK. NY — They're already here… and you're one of them. Verizon Wireless, the nation's leading wireless service provider, and Gameloft, a leading developer and publisher of games for mobile phones, are bringing the reality of the summer blockbuster War of the Worlds directly to Verizon Wireless Get It Now® customers. Inspired by the Paramount Pictures and Dreamworks Pictures movie in theaters now, the War of the Worlds mobile game from Gameloft puts players in charge of taking over the planet city by city.

Mobile gamers battle their way through 13 action-packed levels set in five different environments as a deadly tripod inspired by the film and its universe. To win the War of the Worlds, players must finish each level in a limited amount of time and complete the primary objectives: reaching checkpoints within time limits, inflicting mass destruction and collecting humans. The human military forces will fight back with everything they have — weapons, helicopters, planes and boats — while land mines try to slow players down as they attempt to wreak havoc on Earth.

As players continue, Tripods overcome Osaka, London, New Jersey and New York. After each level, a debriefing helps players analyze their performance by providing a tally of various stats. Players' total bonus will establish their rank in the game.

War of the Worlds is located in the getGAMES shopping aisle of the Get It Now virtual store. Customers can purchase the game for $2.99 monthly access or $6.49 for unlimited use purchase. Customers can try their hand at battling the world by downloading War of the Worlds on select Get It Now-enabled phones, including the Kyocera KX444 and KX2; LG VX6100, VX7000 and VX8000; Motorola V265 and V710; and Samsung SCH-a650 and SCH-a670.

Download charges for Get It Now applications vary and airtime charges apply when browsing, downloading and using certain applications. Customers need a Get It Now-enabled handset and Verizon Wireless digital service to access the virtual store.
