WHY:
Verizon Wireless is positioned to respond rapidly to maintain service in the event cell sites or other key communications equipment are damaged or disabled by a community disaster. In 2004, Verizon Wireless invested $30 million to further expand and enhance its wireless voice and data network in Nevada, and safeguard network reliability. Standard Verizon Wireless network reliability features include battery back-up power at all facilities as well as generators installed at all switching facilities and many cell site locations. Each year, Verizon Wireless invests on average about a billion dollars every 90 days in its national network, constantly improving and expanding what already is the most reliable nationwide wireless network in the United States.

VISUALS:
The 25,000 lb. Cell on Light Truck (COLT) features one retractable mast, 60 ft. tall, mounting both cellular and microwave antennas and an emergency power generator.
