BEDMINSTER, NJ — Verizon Wireless, owner and operator of the only national wide-area wireless broadband network in the United States, has again fulfilled its promise to expand its EV-DO wireless broadband network to more customers as it added seven new markets today to the growing list of areas where its two EV-DO (Evolution-Data Optimized) based services, BroadbandAccess and V CAST, are available. In addition, the company announced its success with its business service in existing markets has enabled it to offer Verizon Wireless customers with any monthly voice plan unlimited BroadbandAccess for $59.99 monthly access, a savings of 25% per month.

Dick Lynch, executive vice president and chief technical officer for Verizon Wireless, said: "We made the promise that Verizon Wireless' broadband network would be widely-available by the end of 2005, and here we are today, fulfilling that promise. It should come as no surprise that we are ahead of schedule — after all, this is what we do, we build networks. We are confident that our deployment and network technology will enable customers to reap the benefits of the nation's only national wireless broadband network."

John Stratton, vice president and chief marketing officer for Verizon Wireless, noted: "Our customers don't have to wait until next year or whenever for wireless broadband to be available — let alone only in business corridors. Today, Verizon Wireless has expanded the reach of its EV-DO network, but we're also rewarding new and existing voice customers with a tremendous opportunity to save when they sign up for BroadbandAccess."

Roger Entner, vice president of wireless telecom at Ovum, added: "Verizon Wireless can offer its BroadbandAccess customers unlimited access for less because it has the lead in EV-DO services. Verizon Wireless customers can enjoy a competitive advantage because they can quickly access information behind their firewall when they're away from the office in more than 60 major metropolitan areas and airports — wherever they need to work. And the monthly BroadbandAccess cost of $59.99 is a terrific value, giving businesses a strong return on their investment."
