CHICAGO, IL — Verizon Wireless has opened its first bilingual Telesales Center in the Midwest-located right here in Chicago. The new Telesales Center is adjacent to the company's 26th Street Communications Store in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood, located at 3435 West 26th Street.

The addition of the bilingual Telesales Center is part of Verizon Wireless' continued effort to meet the needs of its Spanish-speaking customers and support of the Hispanic community through economic investment and the creation of job opportunities. A toll-free bilingual telesales number - 800-505-8102 - routes calls directly to a bilingual representative at the new Telesales Center. The number is being promoted through Spanish-language advertising and direct marketing campaigns such as "Tu Centro Latino de Ventas de Verizon Wireless" (Your Verizon Wireless Latino Sales Center).

"Not only are we creating new, good jobs, but we are providing the Latino community with increased convenience and accessibility to a sales team dedicated to their needs," said Lindsay Notwell, executive director of Marketing-Midwest Area, Verizon Wireless. "Our highly skilled bilingual representatives will help identify the right products and services for the Latino community here in Chicago and throughout the Midwest."

"I can't be more pleased that Verizon Wireless has expanded its investment in the Little Village community with the opening of its first Midwest Area bilingual Telesales Center here," said Alderman Ricardo Muñoz of Chicago's 22nd Ward, which includes the Little Village neighborhood. "It truly does underscore how committed the company is to reaching out to the Latino community in Chicago and throughout the Midwest. I look forward to continuing to work with Verizon Wireless on initiatives that will positively impact this community."

The bilingual Telesales Center launched with five sales representatives and one supervisor, Sergio Vazquez. Vazquez began his career with the company in 1996 as a collections representative, and has held positions of increasing responsibility within the organization. He most recently was a retail manager for the Verizon Wireless Communications Store in Bucktown before taking on his new role and responsibilities as the Bilingual Telesales Supervisor.

"My team and I are going to do everything we can to make it easy for Spanish-speaking customers to do business with Verizon Wireless," said Vazquez. "We encourage our customers to let us know what we can do to better serve the community."

Verizon Wireless expects to add to the Telesales Center staff within the next few months.
