ALPHARETTA, GA — In its continuing effort to provide the best wireless service in Georgia, Verizon Wireless, owner and operator of the nation's most reliable wireless network, has again expanded its network with five new cell sites and 57 cell site enhancements.

As a result of the new cell sites, network coverage and capacity have been enhanced in the following areas:

  • Hazelhurst
  • Woodstock
  • Brunswick
  • Rome
  • Fort Gordon
  • North Cobb and Cherokee County (11 site enhancements)
  • Snellville (21 site enhancements)
  • Conyers (13 site enhancements)
  • Statesboro (4 site enhancements) — adding capacity to Georgia Southern University
  • Columbus (6 site enhancements) — adding capacity to retail and residential areas in North Columbus
  • Ft. Valley (site enhancement) — adding capacity to Ft. Valley State College

The new cell sites and enhancements are part of Verizon Wireless' multi-billion dollar network investment each year to stay ahead of the growing demand in Georgia and across the country for the company's popular voice and data services, including V CAST and TXT Messaging, Picture Messaging, NationalAccess and BroadbandAccess high-speed wireless Internet access and Get It Now® ring tones, games, productivity applications and more.

Demand for Verizon Wireless services was unprecedented in the second quarter of 2005 as the company added industry record 1.9 million net new customers, more than any other U.S. wireless provider. Additionally, Verizon Wireless has been recognized consistently as the leader in the U.S. wireless industry, not only for its network coverage, products and services, but also for its customer service. In the second quarter of 2005 alone, Verizon Wireless posted the lowest customer churn rate — 1.2% — among national carriers and topped more third-party surveys of customer satisfaction.

These new cell sites in Georgia are part of Verizon Wireless' continuous effort to increase capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network. Verizon Wireless has regularly invested more than $4 billion nationally each year since its inception — and more than $8 billion in the last 18 months — to expand and upgrade its nationwide wireless network. In Georgia alone to date in 2005, Verizon Wireless has invested over $100 million in network enhancements to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless products and services in Georgia.

"Customers continue to choose Verizon Wireless because we provide wireless service they can depend on," said Jim McGean, Verizon Wireless Georgia/Alabama region president. "The company's commitment to being the nation's most reliable wireless network and its strong customer service focus are key to maintaining our customers' loyalty."

The company's 'most reliable network' claim is based on network studies performed by real-life test men and test women throughout the country who inspired the "Can you hear me now? Good.®" national advertising campaign. These engineers conduct more than 300,000 call attempts monthly on Verizon Wireless' and other national carriers' networks while traveling over 100,000 miles a month in specially equipped, company-owned test vehicles. If you are interested in setting up an interview or ride-along test drive with your local Verizon Wireless test man or woman, please contact Caran Smith at (678) 339-4891 or caran.smith@verizonwireless.com.
