BEDMINSTER, NJ and ATLANTA — Verizon Wireless, the nation's leading wireless service provider and The Weather Channel®, today announced that made-for-mobile video clips from The Weather Channel are now available to Verizon Wireless V CAST customers. The perfect tool for active lifestyles, The Weather Channel brings the latest weather forecasts, updates and information directly to customers' V CAST-enabled phones.

The Weather Channel programming on V CAST gives Verizon Wireless customers on demand access to frequently updated local, regional, national and severe weather forecasts, expressly produced for mobile customers. Verizon Wireless V CAST customers will also enjoy access to on-location severe weather coverage featuring The Weather Channel on-camera meteorologists and severe weather experts such as Jim Cantore and Stephanie Abrams.

Louis Gump, vice president mobile, The Weather Channel Interactive, said "From the beach to the ballpark, V CAST is a great way to provide customers with weather information when they are on the go and need it most. The Weather Channel is committed to distributing its content through the most advanced technologies available and our launch on Verizon Wireless' V CAST service helps us to fulfill that commitment."

V CAST from Verizon Wireless is the first true wireless broadband consumer multimedia service in the country, allowing customers to view crystal clear video clips on demand.

V CAST runs on Verizon Wireless' Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) network — the largest high-speed wireless broadband network in the United States. The V CAST coverage area, which mirrors the Verizon Wireless EV-DO network, is available to more than 140 million Americans in 171 major metropolitan markets and 68 primary airports and is expanding coast to coast.

To get V CAST from Verizon Wireless, customers can equip their V CAST-enabled phones with the V CAST VPak for $15.00 monthly access added to their Verizon Wireless calling plan. Unlimited basic video clips are included with the V CAST VPak, but application download fees apply for 3D games and premium video. With the V CAST VPak, there are no airtime charges to stream and watch The Weather Channel video clips or to stream or download other V CAST video clip content. V CAST's array of new multimedia programming is located in the Get It Now® virtual store — customers can access video from favorite news, sports and entertainment providers including The Weather Channel in the getFLIX shopping aisle. Customers need V CAST-enabled handsets and to be within the V CAST coverage area to access V CAST services.
