SUWANEE, GA — Verizon Wireless, which owns and operates the nation's most reliable wireless network serving 49.3 million customers, announces the opening of its newest location in Georgia. The new store, located at Johns Creek at 2637 Peachtree Parkway, is open for business and will hold its official grand opening ceremony on Wednesday, November 9 at 11 a.m. Representatives from Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce, Henry County Police Department and The Safe America Foundation will share in the celebration.
Atlanta radio station WNNX-FM "99X" will broadcast live from Verizon Wireless Johns Creek, November 11, 46 p.m. And Atlanta Falcons Star Tight End Alge Crumpler will be onsite, November 11, 57 p.m. for a special meet and greet and autograph session with Verizon Wireless customers.
The Safe America Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to community and family safety, will also help commemorate the Verizon Wireless grand opening event. To help teach Forsyth County teenagers safe driving techniques, the organization will be onsite with driving simulators, providing an opportunity for teens to "drive" on wet and icy roads, in fog or at night. Instruction is free and will include training in skills of braking, vehicle control and avoiding distractions. The Safe America Foundation will be at the new Verizon Wireless location Saturday, November 12, Noon 4p.m. All area teens are encouraged to attend.
In addition, the Henry County Sheriff's Office will provide children's fingerprinting kits at Johns Creek Verizon Wireless, 11a.m. 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 12. In an effort to make area children safer, parents are encouraged to bring their children to the store to create and file a permanent record of their fingerprints. These records have been proven to save lives in the case of lost or kidnapped children.
Verizon Wireless customers with handsets capable of receiving text messages are encouraged to sign-up to receive AMBERTM Alerts on those handsets. They can opt-in by going to www.verizonwireless.com, and choosing "send TXT Messages" from the Get It Now® drop-down menu, or by logging directly into www.vtext.com, Verizon Wireless' TXT Messaging site. After logging in, customers go to the Alerts page and choose the "News and Tech" category, then click on the Wireless AMBER Alert banner. They will then be prompted to enter a ZIP code for the state or geographical area for which they want to receive Wireless AMBER Alerts.
The company continues to expand its retail presence to meet the growing demand for wireless products and services, and to make wireless shopping more convenient for customers. Grand opening specials include waived activation fees and a 25% discount on accessories. These specials last November 6-12, 2005 and will be honored at the new Johns Creek location.
