SAN MATEO, CA and BEDMINSTER, NJ — Glu Mobile, a leading creator and global publisher of mobile entertainment, and Verizon Wireless, the nation's leading wireless service provider, today announced that DRIVERTM: VEGAS, the first mobile exclusive sequel based on a console franchise, is now available to Verizon Wireless Get it Now® customers. The critically-acclaimed game features Tanner, the resurrected franchise hero, taking to the streets, canyons and casinos of Las Vegas to hunt down his leftover enemies from the 2004 worldwide hit, DRIV3RTM.

Concurrent with the DRIVER: VEGAS launch, Verizon Wireless is offering its customers with select Get It Now-enabled phones the chance to win a trip for two to Las Vegas with the DRIVER: VEGAS sweepstakes, which runs until January 15, 2006. The grand prize winner will travel to Las Vegas to learn to drive like a pro at the Derek Daly Performance Driving School. Airfare, accommodations and spending money for the winner and one guest will also be included.

"We were thrilled with the success of DRIV3R on Verizon Wireless and wanted to launch the sequel to Get It Now customers with the additional excitement of a sweepstakes challenge," said Jill Braff, general manager, Americas, Glu Mobile. "Verizon Wireless recognizes consumers' desire to play cutting-edge, immersive games on their mobile devices, and DRIVER: VEGAS' crisp graphics, new gameplay features and captivating storyline will deliver another great mobile game experience for Get It Now customers, and we expect the game's popularity to surpass that of its mobile predecessor."

The launch of DRIVER: VEGAS has been met with editorial success: IGN.com awarded their Editor's Choice Award and a rating of 8.6 out of 10. "Selling well over a million downloads around the world, DRIV3R was a monster success and prompted Atari to give its blessing to Driver Vegas, a dedicated sequel to the console game, but an exclusive for mobile… Driver Vegas is an excellent follow-up to Glu's original efforts," wrote Levi Buchanan of IGN.com. The game also received an overall rating of 4.0/5.0 and the Editor's Award from WGWorld.com.

Some key features of DRIVER: VEGAS include:

  • A storyline that picks up where DRIV3R left off
  • Twenty-three undercover missions in the canyons, streets and casinos of Las Vegas
  • Awesome new vehicles and environments
  • High-speed, adrenaline-filled chases complete with skid marks and shoot-outs
  • Zoomed-in on-foot action inside casinos
  • New controls with automatic drift racing style maneuvers

Verizon Wireless customers can download DRIVER: VEGAS from the getGAMES shopping aisle of the Get It Now virtual store for $3.49 monthly access or $6.99 for unlimited use purchase. Download charges for Get It Now applications vary and airtime charges apply when browsing, downloading and using certain applications. Customers need a Get It Now-enabled handset and Verizon Wireless digital service to access the Get It Now virtual store. DRIVER: VEGAS is available on major wireless carriers in the US and will be available in the rest of the world in coming months.
